Bloomberg unveils `Waterfalls' art project in NYC

AP Photos By VERENA DOBNIK Associated Press Writer NEW YORK (AP) About 35,000 gallons of water a minute is roaring into the East River as part of New York City's latest public art happening.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg calls the project "the most unexpected waterfalls" between New York's Niagara Falls and Africa's Victoria Falls.
The 15.5 million dollar display was officially unveiled today.
It features four mammoth waterfalls emptying into the East River and New York Harbor and stands as the biggest public art project since artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude put up "The Gates." Bloomberg says "Waterfalls" could generate more than 55 million dollars in economic activity for the city.

How do they make up these kinds of predictions? $55 million in economic activity? What...are they saying anyone who sees these monstrosities and then spends money is generating economic impact because of them?
